Schedule Update

Cornell will face Drexel, Vermont, UMass and Toledo in the 2009 Legends Classic.

The University of Vermont's newly released 2009-2010 schedule, confirms what we previously reported here on The Cornell Basketball Blog. The Catamounts will play in Philadelphia in the Legends Classic subregional rounds. In three consecutive days of games between November 27 through 29- Vermont, Cornell, Toledo and Drexel will square off in a round robin series. The location is likely the Drexel campus. But before the three subregional games in Philadelphia take place, Cornell faces UMass in Amherst in the Classic's opening round on November 18.

In other Cornell schedule news, it is looking very possible that the Big Red could be facing two non-Division I teams in its 31 game schedule this season (on December 31 and January 11).

But even with two non-Division I opponents, Cornell still should have by far the league's toughest schedule. In addition to the Legends Classic opponents, Cornell's opposition will also include Alabama, Seton Hall, Syracuse, St. Joseph's, La Salle, Kansas, Davidson, and either St. John's or Hofstra.

Also notable, Cornell's slated 29 games against D-I opponents is the most the Big Red have faced during a single regular season in Steve Donahue's coaching tenure.
