Recruiting News: Big Red Take Interest in Northfield Mount Hermon

Below, some Big Red recruiting news.

Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH) School in Northfield, Massachusetts is known for stellar academics and a very strong basketball program that regularly produces Division I level talent. Not surprisingly, Cornell has taken heavy recruiting interest in several of NMH's players in the last several years.

NMH plays in the competitive New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC), considered the premier prep conference in the nation, a virtual breeding ground for Division I players throughout the league.

Over the past decade, NMH has sent more than 50 players to Division I college programs, including Cornell freshman, Pete McMillan (pictured above).

During 2009-2010, NMH will have 8 former players in the Ivy League. In total, NMH will have 22 players in Division I during the 2009-2010 season and many more are expected to follow.

One such player is Laurent Rivard. He has claimed close to 15 Division I offers according to the New England Recruiting Report. Schools offering include Brown, Columbia, Penn, Princeton, Davidson, Bucknell, Holy Cross, Elon, Vermont, and Northeastern. Cornell is also heavily involved in Rivard's recruitment. The 6'5" wing is a potential replacement for Mid-Major All-American, Ryan Wittman, who is graduating in May 2010 along with fellow Big Red wings-- Geoff Reeves, Andre Wilkins and Jon Jaques.

Also from NMH, Chris Fitzgerald, a 6'8" power forward recently visited Cornell. Fitzgerald is also a potential good fit for the Big Red with the graduation of center Jeff Foote and power forwards, Alex Tyler and Pete Reynolds.

The Big Red are also pursuing NMH's Joe Sharkey (class of '11), a 6'2" guard and Hector Harold, a 6'8" forward.
