Big Red and the "D League"

In the last ten years, Cornell has sent two alums to the NBA Development League. No other Ivy League school has sent as many players to the "D League." In fact, including Cornell, only two Ivy League schools can claim D League alumni.

Jeff Aubry ('99) was drafted in 2001 by the D League's Fayetteville Patriots (5th round, 33rd overall pick). During 2001-2002 with the Patriots, Aubry averaged 7.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks. Aubry returned to Fayetteville for the 2002-2003 season and became a regular starter. He averaged 6.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game.

After playing a few pro seasons outside of the U.S., Aubry returned to the D League during February 2005 and played with the now discontinued Florida Flame franchise where he averaged 6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.4 blocks per game.

Cody Toppert ('05) also played in the NBA's D-League. Toppert averaged 3.7 points and 1.3 assists per game during the 2005-2006 season for the Albuequrque Thunderbirds.

Several current Cornell players are considered legitimate NBA/D-League prospects.
