Recruiting News (updated 2:45 p.m.)

Below, some recruiting news from around the Ivy League...

The UticaOD.com reports that Pat Moore, a 6'5" wing from Notre Dame High School in Albany, New York committed this week to Colgate. He also had reported offers from Wagner and Columbia, while Cornell was showing some interest.

A source close to the situation advised The Cornell Basketball Blog that Will Sheehey, a 6'6" wing from South Fork High School in Stuart, Florida plans on using five official campus visits this fall, but only one of those visits will be to an Ivy school-- Columbia. He is hearing from Stanford, Northwestern, Bucknell, George Washington, Virginia, South Carolina and Mississippi. He has taken unofficial visits to Penn, Princeton and Columbia. He has a scholarship offer from Northwestern and is expecting an offer from Stanford.

The New England Recruiting Report notes that Majok Majok, a highly recruited combo forward has transferred and enrolled at prep powerhouse, Northfield Mount Hermon School. A confidential source advised The Cornell Basketball Blog that while Majok will likely be fully qualified academically to play Division I basketball, he could be a long shot for admissions to the Ivy League programs recruiting him, including Harvard. This is certainly no knock on Majok as clearing the Ivy League admissions hurdles is extremely difficult for most potential Division I athletes.

Scout.com’s No. 66 nationally ranked senior out of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, 6'10" Dwight Powell has narrowed his college list. “He’s narrowed it down to three schools,” IMG coach Vince Walden told Scout.com. “It’s going to be Harvard, Stanford and Georgia Tech.” The 6-foot-10 Powell has his official visits lined up. Stanford is up first beginning Sept. 17, followed by Harvard Sept. 24 and Georgia Tech the weekend of Oct. 9. Powell has visited all three campuses already and most expect that Stanford is the to school to beat out.

Griffin McKenzie, a 6'8" forward from Cincinnati, Ohio was considering Cornell before the summer, but the highly ranked forward has seemingly eliminated Ivy schools from contention. “I’ll be visiting Northwestern on August 20th, Wake Forest on August 28th, and Vanderbilt on September 4th,” said McKenzie to Scout.com. “It’s also possible I might take one to Xavier after I take those visits, and I’m leaving the last one open to any school that catches my eye.” He continued, “I would like to play at the highest level of basketball you can play.”

Chad Calcaterra, a 6'10" post player from Cloquet, Minnesota has scholarship offers from Colorado State, Auburn, Minnesota, Northern Iowa, Wisconsin-Green Bay and North Dakota State. He told Rivals.com he will likely visit Colorado State, Vermont, Harvard and Stanford.

Keala King, a 6'4" guard from Santa Ana, California's Mater Dei High School told Scout.com, “I’ve heard from Kentucky, Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Oregon State, Oregon, Stanford and Harvard." King said all of the schools have extended offers. He added, “My favorites right now are Arizona State, Arizona, Stanford and maybe Harvard a little bit,” said King.
