Recruiting News

Below, some recruiting news from around the Ivy League. Above, Mark Coury, a 6'9" 240 lb. forward/center is among several Division I transfers on the Big Red roster. Coury played two seasons for Kentucky before transferring to Cornell.

Has Keala King eliminated Harvard from consideration? The 6'4" guard from Compton, California told DevilsDigest.com, “My top three right now are Arizona State, Arizona and Stanford. I’m probably going to end up in the Pac-10."

Scout.com reports that
Penn, Columbia, Yale, Brown, Holy Cross, Princeton, Lafayette, Lehigh, and Bucknell are showing interest in 6''7" Tyler McNeely of Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey.

In a follow-up to our post earlier this week addressing transfer recruiting, below we provide links to some background information on how a couple of the Big Red's recent transfer recruits landed at Cornell. During 2009, Cornell counted six transfers on its roster.
  • Mark Coury (to Cornell via University of Kentucky)
  • Andre Wilkins (to Cornell via Blinn College) from HoopStarsCanada.com:
After spending his freshman year at Blinn College in Texas, Andre Wilkins (Toronto, ON/Emery ’06) will transfer and be eligible immediately at Cornell University of the Ivy League. The academically gifted Wilkins had originally committed to Brown University last year, but a coaching change caused a change of consideration and accepted an offer from the College of Charleston instead. Merely days later, their coach was fired and Wilkins opted out once again. After committing to Blinn, the athletic 6’5” forward averaged 8.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in 2006-07.
