Recruiting News

Scout.com reports that Jordan Downing, a 6'5" shooting guard/small forward from Hopewell High School in Huntersville, North Carolina has committed to Davidson. Downing was drawing interest from Harvard and Dartmouth.

New England Recruiting Report notes that Rod Odom, a highly ranked 6'8" forward from the Middlesex School in Massachusettes has offers on the table from Michigan, Louisville, UConn, Vanderbilt, Miami, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Boston College, Arizona, Rhode Island and Harvard. Of those Odom lists UConn, Louisville, Boston College, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Arizona, Miami, Georgia Tech and Harvard as the schools most of interest to him. Odom has already visited Harvard, Boston College, and Georgia Tech, and is expected to visit Connecticut’s campus sometime this week with a trip to Louisville in the not so distant future. “I’m cutting my list down to five by later this month,” Odom told Adam Zagoria of the ZagsBlog, “and probably deciding by middle to late September.”

TexasHoops.com reports that Cornell is recruiting Stuart Lagerson, a 6'10" post player from Converse, Texas and Judson High School. "Right now I hold offers from UTA, Texas State, Cornell, UC- Riverside, and Cal Poly," said Lagerson. He added, "UTA and Texas State are at the top of the list and I will go visit them on official visits. But ultimately, I would like the University of Texas and UCLA to come calling. I hope I can get to that caliber of play." Lagerson stated that staying close to family is a priority and that Mechanical Engineering is his major of choice. While, Cornell can't offer proximity to his home in Texas, the Big Red can offer him the 8th best undergraduate engineering program in the country according to U.S. News and World Report. Cornell's mechancial engineering program is also ranked 8th overall in its specific field.
