Recruiting News

Above, Cornell commit, Jake Matthews (N0. 20 at left), a 6'3" guard from Greensburg, Pennsylvania and Salem High School. Below, some recruiting news from around the Ivy League.

With offers on the table from Penn, Northwestern, SMU, USC and Providence, among others, 6'3" combo guard, Jamal Outler from Bellaire, Texas has narrowed his college choices down to Texas Tech and TCU according to TexasHoops.com.

Scout.com reports that Memphis White Station's Andre Hollins, 6'3" guard and a member of the class of 2011, is drawing interest from Harvard, Ole Miss, Memphis, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Oregon State and Arkansas.

Piecing together information from several different websites, it appears Harvard will be hosting possibly as many as six recruiting prospects during the weekend of September 25. Some sources have speculated that these prospects are discussing committing as a "packaged unit" while other sources have indicated that at least a few of the prospects are hesitant to commit to an unproven Harvard basketball program that has never won an Ivy League title.

The following is the list of players who could potentially be visiting Harvard during the weekend of Sept. 25:

Austin Carroll (Worcester Academy) Worcester, MA 6-3
Pe'Shon Howard (Oak Hill Academy) Oak Hill, VA 6-3
Rod Odom (Middlesex School) Concord, MA 6-8/195
Dwight Powell (IMG Acad. of Brandeton FL), Ontario, Canada 6-8

Brice Kofane (Miller School) Charlottesville, VA 6-8
Ugo Okam (Monteverde Academy) Monteverde, FL 7-1

Harvard is also getting a visit on September 11 from Josh Huestis, a 6'7" forward from Montana. Although Huestis told Northstar Basketball Blog this week that USC, Oregon State, Stanford and Gonzaga are his leaders. He already has offers from USC and Oregon State and has officially visited USC. He also plans on officially visiting Stanford and Gonzaga, both of which are expected to offer scholarships.
