A Bigger, Stronger Foote

As we reported earlier this summer, Jeff Foote, a tireless worker in the gym, has added 20 pounds of muscle to his frame. The Cornell roster was recently updated by Cornell Athletics reflecting Foote's new size of 7'0" and 265 lbs., up from 245 lbs. a year ago.

This summer Foote played with Cornell's Ryan Wittman and Josh Figini in the Howard Pulley Summer Pro League in St. Paul, Minnesota.

GopherIllustrated.com observed Foote in a game during the summer and noted the following.
...also playing in the Pro City is seven-foot center Jeff Foote (B2X) who was the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year last season as a senior.

Foote surprised many on Monday night with his agility, bounce, and work on the floor for a man who is an extremely long seven-footer. He was deflecting passes all over the floor, blocked some shots, grabbed some boards, and when he actually received the ball in the paint defenders didn't have a prayer because Foote's spin to the cup was followed by a leaping shot attempt that only one or two guys in this league could block. His numbers were modest at 11 points on five of nine shooting with nine boards but look out for Foote
In another game, Steven's Sports Report noted that Foote "played well...He had some nice dunks and nice moves around the basket."

Foote's accomplishments at Cornell include:

• Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year (2008-09)
• NABC Second Team All-District selection (2008-09)
• Two-time Second Team All-Ivy League selection (2007-08 & 2008-09)

After two straight Ivy League championships and trips to the NCAA Tournament, Foote and the Cornell program have their sights on bigger goals during 2009-2010.
