ITHACA -- Seniors Jeff Foote, Jon Jaques and Alex Tyler have been named team tri-captains for the 2009-10 Cornell men's basketball team, coach Steve Donahue announced Tuesday through a news release.

Foote, Jaques and Tyler are among nine seniors on the roster for the coming season.

Foote, a 7-foot, 265-pound center out of Spencer-Van Etten High School, is a two-time second-team All-Ivy League selection and the reigning league Defensive Player of the Year. Foote was the Ivy League's leading rebounder (7.2) and shot-blocker (2.1 per game) last season. His 64 blocked shots ranked second on the school's single-season list and 38th in Division I.

Foote ranked in the top 10 in six statistical categories among Ivy League players. He had three double-doubles and was second on the team with 20 double-figure scoring efforts. He enters his final season fifth in career blocked shots with 94 and is just outside the top 10 in field goal percentage (.537).

Tyler is a three-year starter at power forward, and has built his reputation doing the dirty work in the paint. He averaged 6.9 points and a career-high 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 31 games as a junior with 30 starts.

Jaques is a versatile forward and vocal leader who will press for additional playing in his final season. He saw action in 13 contests as a junior, averaging 0.8 points and 0.8 rebounds per game off the bench.
