Recruiting News: Offers on the Table to Join the Back-to-Back Ivy League Champions

The Cornell Basketball Blog previously reported that Cornell offered a pair of "bigs" for the class of 2010. Dave Dudzinski, a 6'9" 230 lb. post from Kaneland, Illinois and Griffin McKenzie, a 6'9" 210 lb. forward from Cincinnati Moeller High School both reportedly received roster spot offers from the Cornell coaching staff.

With respect to Dudzinski-- Princeton, Loyola-Chicago and Western Michigan are Cornell's primary competitors.

McKenzie's competition is a bit more fierce. The BearcatLair.com reports that in addition to Cornell, several high majors have moved in on McKenzie. Other schools which have made offers include Harvard, Cincinnati, Xavier, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Ohio U., Miami (OH), Loyola-Chicago and Ball State. Wright State was also listed among his offers in reports from other sources.

In the backcourt, several sources indicated that the Big Red offered Hakeem Harris, a 6'0" lead guard from Blair Academy in New Jersey. It is not known whether Cornell remains involved in his recruitment and to what extent. Other Ivies are heavily involved.

Thus far, Cornell expects to return 11 veteran players for the 2010-2011 season. In addition, Cornell will add Manny Sahota, a 6'6" guard/forward from St. Marguerite d'Youville Secondary School in Brampton, Ontario and Anthony Gatlin, a 6'8" guard/forward transfer from Centenary College. Gatlin is already enrolled at Cornell but must sit out 2009-2010 per NCAA transfer rules.

Since Ivy League programs typically carry between 15-20 active players on their rosters in a given season, Cornell will likely add for 2010-2011 at least two additional recruits and possibly as many as six. Factors such as available financial aid and the caliber of the available talent with suitable academic profiles will play a major role in how many more kids are brought into the program.
