Recruiting News: Ivies Jumping in on Dudzinski

Ivy League schools are pushing hard for the services of Kaneland's (IL) Dave Dudzinski. Thus far, Cornell, Brown and Princeton have all made offers.

The following is from today's The Chronicle (serving Kaneland, IL):

MAPLE PARK – Dave Dudzinski drew Ivy League interest with his brains, but has kept a number of academically strong institutions enthralled with his brawn.

On Tuesday, the Kaneland senior center received a basketball scholarship offer from Brown University, joining earlier tenders from Cornell and Princeton. Dudzinski caught Brown's eye this past weekend in an academic showcase game at the Joy of the Game Center in Deerfield.

"It's July, so it's an active recruiting period," said Dudzinski, a 6-foot-8 1/2 center. "It's a small window, so they try to follow us around."

Dudzinski enters his final year of high school ranked second in Kaneland's Class of 2010, boasting a 5.125 grade point average on a 5.0 scale. He credits a glut of Advanced Placement classes for helping that mark, and is set to take AP-level courses in Calculus II, Physics II and English.

"Not quite the blow-off senior year everybody talks about," Dudzinski said.

Dudzinski said he is happy with his current offers but plans to wait to make his decision. He is playing AAU ball this summer for the Naperville-based Velocity Black.
