Recruiting News

Below, some recruiting news from around the Ivy League. Above, Cornell's Mark Coury, a former Kentucky Wildcat.

The Richmond Register published a story on the commitment of Champaign, Illinois' Jeff Johnson, a 6'8 forward. Recruited by Harvard and Penn, Johnson selected Eastern Kentucky last month.

Josh Huestis, a 6'7" forward from Great Falls, Montana told the Bootleg.com that he is probably done taking college visits. After visiting USC, Stanford and Harvard, Huestis is expected to reach a decision soon. He also has offers from Santa Clara, Montana and Montana State.

Community School of Naples (Fla.) 6'3" point guard Mitch Woods committed to Appalachian State according to MountaineerIllustrated.com. He had an offer from North Florida, and was drawing interest from the University of Denver, Northeastern, Eastern Kentucky, Columbia.

Steve Carver, a 6'8" forward from Shawnee Mission, Kansas committed to Holy Cross. Cornell and other Ivies showed some interest.

NYCHoopsNet.com reports that 6'4" Long Island Lutheran HS junior guard Achraf Yacoubou has committed to Villanova. Yacoubou originally had offers from Harvard, UConn, Villanova, Wake Forest, Kentucky, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Xavier, Pitt, Memphis, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Providence, Seton Hall and Fordham.

ChicagoHoops.com reports that class of 2011's Garrett Jones, a 5'11" guard from Evanston High School has drawn interest from Wisconsin-Green Bay, Loyola-IL, Cornell, Yale and a "host of Ivy League programs."
