Recruiting News

Below, some recruiting news around the Ivy League. Above, Cornell's "Newman Nation" sports their "brick bags" to taunt opposing players.

As we noted previously, Kaneland's (IL) Dave Dudzinski, a 6'9" center, appears to be eliminating the Ivy League as a college option. Dudzinski has indicated he is placing the greatest emphasis in his college decision on tuition cost. He wants a full scholarship which the Ivy League schools do not offer. Cornell, Brown and Princeton reportedly had offered him roster spots.

Two weeks ago we reported that Sibley High School's Jake Kreuser, a 7'0" post player from Minneapolis, was down to just one scholarship, an offer from North Dakota State. Kreuser previously had offers from Wisconsin Green Bay and Santa Clara, but the two schools pulled their offers off the table due to Kreuser's unwillingness to commit during the early fall. Now we learn that Kreuser has picked up another scholarship offer and it is coming from Lafayette, a recently struggling program out of the Patriot League. Cornell is also reportedly involved for his services. But like Dudzinski, financial aid may be the primary motivating factor for Kreuser in his college decision

While Kreuser and Dudzinksi could be solid pick-ups for the Big Red, Cornell is involved with several other major post prospects, some of whom are holding scholarship offers from BCS schools. The Big Red are also expecting a visit within the next two weeks from a potential impact frontcourt player.

In other recruiting news, ChicagoHoops.com reports that Chicago Brooks High School's George Marshall, a 6'0" point guard from the class of 2011 has scholarship offers from DePaul, Illinois State and Xavier, while Harvard, Wisconsin, Stanford, Wake Forest, Arizona, Arizona State, Iowa, and Tennessee are among those showing interest.

Also in the class of 2011, JayhawkSlant.com reports that Kyle Wiltjer, a 6'9" 200 lb. power forward from Jesuit High School in Portland, Oregon has offers from Harvard, Stanford, Kansas, Arizona State, California, Gonzaga, Oregon, Oregon State, San Francisco, Santa Clara and USC. Numerous other schools are in the mix.

NEHoopsNews.com has a story on Northfield Mount Hermon School's (Mass.) Majok Majok, a 6'8" forward who is considering Harvard as well as numerous high majors. Sources tells us that several Ivy League schools will not recruit Majok because of an unlikelihood that he could clear admissions. Majok, who speaks English as a second language, must still take the SAT and his verbal section could be a major obstacle for Ivy League schools.

The Harvard Crimson provides added coverage of Dwight Powell's commitment to Stanford over Harvard. The 6'9" forward from IMG Academy in Florida was Harvard's top recruiting prospect.

RivalsHigh.com has a very inspirational story of Penn recruit, Dau Jok.
