Once Again, Cornell's Peck Leads Indiana All-Stars Over Kentucky

After watching the Indiana vs. Kentucky All Stars play in Indianapolis on Saturday, Jody Demling, a writer for the Louisville Courier Journal said, "Cornell got itself a steal" in reference to the Big Red's recruiting commitment from 6'6" Errick Peck of Indianapolis Cathedral High School. Peck was voted the game's MVP after he finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks, all team highs.

In Sunday's second and final meeting between the two all-star quads from Indiana and Kentucky, the Indiana All-Stars completed the series sweep in Louisville, prevailing 64-49. Once again Cornell's Peck led the way for the Indiana All-Stars, leading all scorers with 14 points and pulling down 9 rebounds.

Indiana all-star coach David Wood, Jordan Hulls (Indiana recruit), Errick Peck (Cornell recruit) and Stephan Van Treese (Louisville recruit) addressed the media following the sweep of Kentucky. You can listen to the audio from the press conference at InsideTheHall.com (click here).

Below are some game stories:

From the Ft. Wayne Journal & Gazette:

The Indiana girls and boys basketball teams put the finishing touches on a sweep in the Indiana-Kentucky All-Star doubleheader finale Sunday at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky.

Errick Peck of Indianapolis Cathedral scored 14 points and D.J. Byrd of North Montgomery added 10 to lead the Indiana boys to a 64-49 win over the Kentucky All-Stars, and Miss Basketball Skylar Diggins of South Bend Washington scored 29 points, 25 in the second half, as the Indiana girls rallied for an 85-75 win.

The Indiana boys won Saturday’s game 78-65, and the Indiana girls won 105-75 at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Indiana trailed briefly early in the game but led 37-20 at halftime behind Peck’s 11 points.

From the Indianapolis Star:
...For the second consecutive night, it was Cathedral's Errick Peck who led Indiana in scoring, this time with 14 points. Something of a surprise pick to the team, Peck more than earned his spot. The Cornell recruit shot 6-for-10 from the field and had nine rebounds to match Derek Elston and Stephan Van Treese for team-high honors."I definitely enjoyed the week," Peck said. "A lot of these guys are going to the Big Ten or Big East -- they are really great players. Getting to know them as people and making friends with them has been such a great experience."
From the Montgomery County Paper:
...Indiana's Errick Peck (Cathedral) led the team in scoring in both games.

He scored 14 points and recorded nine rebounds in Sunday's game.

On Saturday, he was named the team's Most Valuable Player after scoring 16 points and pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds, with 14 points and 10 rebounds coming in the second half.

From the Lexington Herald Leader:

LOUISVILLE — A change of venue didn't do much for the scoring woes of the Kentucky All-Star basketball team on Sunday.

A day after putting up just 65 points in a 13-point loss to Indiana, Kentucky was once again shut down, 64-49, as Indiana earned the sweep and picked up its 10th win in the last 11 games of the series. It was Kentucky's biggest display of offensive futility since Indiana won the 1948 game by a score of 70-47.

Kentucky didn't have any more success stopping Indiana's Errick Peck in Louisville, either. Peck, who earned MVP honors Saturday after a 16-point, 12-rebound performance, was once again the high point and rebound man for Indiana with 14 and eight.
