More on the Holy Cross/Donahue Search

Not only is Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com reporting that Cornell Head Coach, Steve Donhaue is on a short list for the vacant head coaching position at Holy Cross, but Dick Weiss of the New York Daily News is also reporting the same information.

At best, the Holy Cross position should be considered a lateral position for Donahue. While H.C. could offer Donahue the usage of scholarships, Holy Cross is not as academically prestigious as an Ivy League university and its basketball program is not in a better position to compete nationally. For these reasons, among others, Cornell and other Ivies are very successful recruiting against Holy Cross and other Patriot League programs.

During April, Donahue declined involvement in Boston University's coaching search.

Weiss of the Daily News writes:
Donahue leads list of names in hunt for Holy Cross job

Steve Donahue of Cornell, Mike Lonergan of Vermont and former Harvard coach Frank Sullivan are the names we hear most in the Holy Cross search. We're sure Dennis Wolff of BU has strong interest, too. Donohue is coming off two straight Ivy titles. It would be interesting to see what would happen if Sullivan - who has New England roots, the Ivy credentials a high class academic school like the Cross loves and was highly successful in another life at Bentley - gets an interview and could sell the selection committee on the fact that he was working with one hand tied behind his back for most of his career at Harvard.
