News and Notes: Two Young Stars Emerge for the Big Red

Below, some more news and notes...
  • There were definitely some bright spots for Cornell (2-2) in last night's 88-73 defeat on the road to No. 9 Syracuse. What we noticed was the rise of two young future stars for Cornell. First, freshman Errick Peck played 13 minutes and scored 8 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 2 assists (including a beautiful backdoor bounce pass to Jeff Foote). Second, Chris Wroblewski showcased his ability to carry a team with his shooting. Wroblewski finished with 20 points, 3 boards and an assist.
  • We need to extend congratulations to Ryan Wittman who broke the Ivy League record for the most career three-pointers. Even more amazing, Wittman still has more than two dozen games left in his career.
  • Comcast Philadelphia ranks Penn last among the six Philadelphia college basketball teams, while Drexel (a Cornell opponent this weekend) is ranked No. 5. The site notes, "Drexel's next three are at home over the weekend against Vermont, Toledo and Ivy League-favorite Cornell."
