News and Notes: Turkey Edition

Below, some news and notes...
  • The Harvard Crimson reports that Harvard's Hugh Martin has left the team. Martin is the third Crimson player to quit the team during the 2009-2010 season. Additionally, Max Kenyi is out for at least 3-6 weeks with a torn MCL.
  • The IndyStar reports that Zionsville High School's Chris Welker intends to maintain his recruiting commitment to attend Army next year even after a coaching change. West Point coach Jim Crews was fired shortly before the season and replaced by former Cornell assistant Zach Spiker. Welker said that was kind of a surprise, and it had him wondering. But a recent campus visit (and meeting with Spiker) quieted his doubts."I was just so impressed with him," said Welker, who also had been recruited by Spiker while he was still at Cornell. "He was encouraging (in practice). He was intense at the same time. . . . The team just took off with him and they really enjoy having him."
