- Fans of Cornell athletics are going stir crazy and for good reason. There are simply too many big time events on Friday night and just not enough time to see them all. The Big Red action starts at 6:30 p.m. when the Cornell wrestling team, ranked No. 4 in the nation takes on the University of Maryland, ranked No 10. The grappling kicks off the night at Cornell's world class Friedman Wrestling Center. Meanwhile, the puck drops 40 minutes later at 7:10 p.m. just a few hundred feet away in Lynah Ice Rink where Cornell, No. 5 in the nation takes on conference rival and No. 19 Princeton. Sandwiched in between Cornell's nationally ranked wrestling and hockey contests, the men's basketball team tips off at 7 p.m. sharp against Big East member Seton Hall. Not only is the Cornell basketball team receiving Top 25 votes in the Coaches' and Associated Press polls, but the Big Red are also expected to unveil during a pre-game ceremony the team's 2009 Ivy League championship banner, the Big Red's second conference title in a row. And there is tlso the matter of Cornell riding a 2-0 record with "high major" road wins over Alabama and UMass. Good luck to all Cornellians in selecting your event. Of course, you know which team we endorse. At least one staffer for WVBR has a slightly different approach.
- The Republican (Mass.) writes, "The crowd of 3,482 at the [UMass] Mullins Center was actually a little better than might have been expected. Wednesday's UMass home men's basketball opener against Cornell kicked off an effort by the school to keep fans interested as a young team experiences growing pains and in all likelihood, some losses."
- For Cornell Basketball Redcast listeners, Barry Leonard will have a halftime interview with the Ithaca Journal's Brian Delaney. During the pre-game show he will interview Seton Hall head coach, Bobby Gonzalez, a Binghamton native.
