Recruiting News

Pictured above, Cornell's two newest transfer additions, Max Groebe from the UMass Minutemen (left) and Mark Coury from the Kentucky Wildcats (right). Below, some recruiting news from around the Ivy League.

Cornell currently has two recruiting commitments for the 2010-2011 season. The Big Red add Anthony Gatlin, a 6'8" guard/forward transfer from Centenary College and 6'6" Manny Sahota, a wing from D'Youville Secondary in Brampton, Ontario.

Gatlin joins a Cornell team that features Division I transfers from the University of Colorado, Kentucky, UMass and St. Bonaventure. As for Sahota, he plays AAU summer basketball for the CIA Bounce and will enter his final year of high school this season. Cornell is reportedly showing interest in a pair of his AAU teammates.

The first is 6'4" Kofi Mensa of Mountain State Academy in West Virginia. Mensa is also drawing interest from West Virginia, Ole Miss, Marshall, Wake Forest, Boston U., Baylor, Akron, St. Bonventure, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Oakland, Nebraska and Saint Joseph’s.

Also from north of the boarder and the CIA bounce program is Mevin Ejim, currently enrolled at Brewster Academy. The 6'6" wing has interest in Cornell, Xavier, Baylor, Wake Forest, New Mexico, Virginia Tech, Michigan, Oakland, Wisconsin-Green Bay, St. Bonaventure, Tulsa and Maryland..

According to the Michigan-based Common Bond AAU program, 7'0" Brandon Crane is considering Harvard and Yale as college options. The center from Midland HS also has varying levels of interest from Central Michigan, Notre Dame, Michigan State and Purdue. He has already visited Harvard.

Multiple sources have reported that 6'8" perimeter oriented forward, Kevin Panzer of Capistrano Valley HS in Mission Viejo, CA has narrowed his choices to Penn, Gonzaga and Colorado.

Joe Sharkey, 6'2" guard and a member of the class of 2011 at Northfield Mount Hermon School visited Brown today.

TexasHoops.com reports that 6'1" point guard, Chris Clement of Round Rock, Texas and Stony Point HS has interest in a couple Ivies. "I went out to Princeton a few days ago," said Clement. "It was beautiful out there and I really like the coaches and the campus. It has been stressed to me from my parents that academics need to be a top priority when looking into schools. My dad is a professor at The University of Texas and my mom is a middle school English teacher. So it is very important to me to go to a school with high academic standards." Princeton isn't the only Ivy school that he has visited. "I went to Cornell last year and they have said that they want me out on an official visit in the fall. Also, I was planning on going to Drake, but I should be going there too officially." Clement dalso said that Lehigh is a campus that he will try to visit before heading back to the Austin area. "I am also getting interest from SMU, Navy, and a little from Davidson, but not as much from them like the others. I feel that Princeton is real close to offering out of everyone recruiting me."
