After finishing the 2007-2008 season as 14-0 undefeated Ivy League Champions, the Cornell Big Red repeated as Ivy League Champions during the 2008-2009 season with an 11-3 Ivy League record.
While Cornell dropped 3 games in the conference, the Big Red cruised to the title. For the second consecutive season, Cornell was dominant as no team in the league finished within 3 games of the Big Red's first place record. Cornell was also dominant statistically in virtually every aspect of the game-- scoring, shooting, rebounding, passing and defense.
Below are some of the notable league-only stats for the 2008-2009 season:
- Cornell led the league in scoring with 74.6 points per game. No other team in the league reached 65.5.
- Cornell outscored its opponents by a +12.9 points differential. No other team in the league was above +1.5 points.
- Even with its high-octane up tempo offense, Cornell finished 4th in the league in scoring defense and led the league in field goal percentage defense, allowing Ivy opponents only to shoot a miserable .395 from the field.
- Cornell led the league in field goal percentage (.488).
