Recruiting News: Penn Gets Verbal

Below, some recruiting news from around the Ivy League...

Penn received a verbal commitment this week from Austin Kelly, a 6'2" combo guard from Harvard-Westlake HS in Hollywood, Ca. Kelly is the second guard to commit to the Quakers in the class of 2010. Earlier this summer Penn received a commitment from Steve Rennard, a 6'0" combo guard from St. Joseph's of Metuchen, N.J. Penn also brings in a pair of guards from the class of 2009. The incoming freshmen are 6'2" Carson Sullivan and 6'0" Malcolm Washington. Due to the recent commitments, Penn's 2010-2011 roster now projects to have eighteen players.

Adam Kemp, a 6'9" 230 lb. post player from Vernon, NY and Vernon-Vernona-Sherrill Central High School reportedly enrolled at the Winchendon School in Massachusetts for a postgraudate year. Kemp received recruiting attention last year from Cornell, Colgate and Columbia.

New England Recruiting Report (NERR) notes that Northfield Mount Hermon' School's 6'5" Laurent Rivard, claims close to 15 division I offers from schools including Bucknell, Vermont, Northeastern, Davidson, Holy Cross, Elon, and from some of the Ivy League. He is also hearing from Notre Dame.

NERR also reports that 6'5" Melvin Ejim of Brewster Academy is hearing from Iowa State, Boston College, Butler and George Washington. Cornell was previously mentioned as involved in his recruitment.
