Recruiting News: Penn Nabs 7th Commitment, '10-'11 Roster Expands to 23

Below, some recruiting news from around the Ivy League...

The Daily Pennsylvanian and Hoops Masters are among the sources confirming that Miles Cartwright, a 6'3" guard from Loyola HS in Los Angeles committed to Penn. The Cornell Basketball Blog was informed from a confidential source on Sunday that the commitment occurred over the weekend.

Cartwright is the seventh (7th) player to commit to Penn for the class of 2010 while five of the seven players are considered guards, all 6'3" and under in height. Cartwright also brings Penn's 2010-2011 projected roster to 23 total players. Even if recruited ("preferred") walk-ons Malcolm Washington and Tommy Eggleston are kept off the varsity roster, Penn is still left with 21 active players on the 2010-2o11 team. Clearly, there is no r0om for playing time for at least a half a dozen of these players.

With Division I offers from High Point, Elon, North Carolina Central, UNC Asheville, and Western Carolina, Forsyth Country Day High School's Georges MaNgoue accepted scholarship to High Point according to Scout.com. The 6'8" 230 lb. center from Lewisville, North Carolina also received interest from Cornell.

TexasHoops.com is reporting that San Antonio Southwest High School 6'9" center Justin Alexander committed to Central Connecticut State. He drew interest from Brown, Yale, Princeton, The Citadel, and Texas State among others.

FloridaHoopsRecruits.com reports that Lakewood High School’s Dominic Lane, a 6’3 guard is hearing from Ivy League and Patriot League programs. “Right now I’m in touch with South Carolina, Colgate, Harvard, Brown, Howard, Jacksonville University, Flagler and Eckerd College. I have received an offer from Eckerd and Flagler,” Lane told the site.
