Recruiting News

Below, some recruiting news from around the Ivies. Above, the Cornell banner hangs from the roof of Harvard's Lavietes Pavillion. Harvard is the only Ivy League school without a championship banner in men's basketball.

The Northstar Basketball Blog reports that Boston U. received a verbal commitment from Philadelphia Friends’ Central High School's H.J. Gaskins, a 5'9" point guard. Prior to selecting Boston, Gaskins said that "the other final school it came down to was Harvard."

Minneapolis Hopkins High School's 5'11" point guard, Siyani Chambers told MinnesotaPreps.com,"Some of the colleges that have shown the most interest are Minnesota, Florida State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn State, Harvard, Northern Iowa, LSU, and Santa Clara. I went to their camp in the summer." He is a member of the class of 2012.

Also in the class of 2012, RecruitRecon.com notes that Harvard and Penn are pursuing 7'2" Kaleb Tarczewski of the St. Mark's School in Massachusetts. He already has offers from Indiana, Providence, USC and West Virginia.

Brown is pursuing Malcolm Pope, a 6'0" point guard in the class of 2011 from the North Dakota State College of Science.

Penn, Drexel, Rider, Marist, Iona and St. Joe's are among those interested in Khalid El-Lewis from Trenton (NJ) Catholic HS. He is a 6'2" guard in the class of 2011.

Malcolm Gilbert, a member of the class of 2011 from the Academy of the New Church (PA) School, a 6'11" post player, has interest from Penn and offers from Delaware, Drexel, Georgia Tech, LaSalle, Maryland, Notre Dame, Rutgers, St. Joes, Tennessee, Villanova, Virginia and Xavier.

Penn is also showing interest in mercurial 5'7" point guard, Maurice Watson of Boys Latin Charter in Pennsylvania. A member of the class of 2012, he also has interest from La Salle, St. Joe's, Temple and Drexel.

Kendrick Perry, a 5'11" point guard from Edgewater H.S. in Florida has interest from Princeton, Drake, Stetson and William & Mary. He is a member of the class of 2010.

Sean Grennan, a 6'1" guard from Monsignor Donovan H.S. in Red Bank, N.J. is a member of the class of 2011. He has interest from Princeton, Davidson, Seton Hall and St. John's among others.
