New England Recruiting Report (NERR) posts the news that 6'4" Joe O'Shea of Burlington High School in Vermont made a commitment this week. During the summer, O'Shea listed a final four of Brown, Princeton, Vermont, and Yale. After taking official visits to Brown and Vermont, O'Shea made a surprise commitment to Holy Cross. He told NERR, “Some stuff changed with my recruiting and I decided to look at Holy Cross because they are a very good school academically and they give scholarships."
Carter Warnock told ArizonaPreps.com that he received his second scholarship offer. The 6'8" post from Seton Catholic HS in Chandler, Arizona picked up an offer this week from Eastern Washington to add to his offer from Weber State. "They [EWU] told me that I am their top recruit," said Warnock. Schools as James Madison and Arkansas-Little Rock recently took visits to his school's campus. Cornell was previously reported to be involved with his recruitment.
This weekend, Austin Carroll, a 6'4" guard at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire told ScarletReport.com that he visited Harvard last month and enjoyed it, but could be looking for a higher level of basketball. He also noted that he does not have an offer yet from the Scarlet Knights. With respect to his his recruitment, he added, “I’m looking for a school where basketball matters. It doesn’t matter if it’s the highest level in the country. It has to matter and have a good coaching staff, and have players that I like to be around.’’
ChicagoHoops.com reports that Chicago Mt. Carmel's Jon Gac, a 6'8" post player, is hearing from Yale, Colgate, Indiana State, Valparaiso, Illinois-Chicago, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Loyola, Northern Illinois, and Western Michigan.
Scout.com reports that class of 2011's Hayden Hordemann, a 6'3" combo guard out of Bloomington (Ill.) Central Catholic, is hearing from Harvard, Princeton, William & Mary, Illinois State, Iowa, Illinois, Iowa State, Western Michigan, Southern Illinois, Xavier, Butler, Missouri State, Oakland, Wichita State, Albany, Indiana, Indiana State, Evansville, and Northwestern. Of this group, he already has a scholarship offer from Illinois State.
TheWolverine reports that Patrick Lucas-Perry, a 5'11" guard from Powers Catholic in Flint, Michigan and brother of current Wolverine Laval Lucas-Perry has offers from Harvard, Michigan State, South Florida, Central Michigan, Oakland, Detroit and Ohio. He's also heard from Michigan, Wake Forest, Notre Dame and other high majors.
Rivals.com notes that Kevin Thomas, a 6'7" frontcourt player from University HS in Waco, Texas is hearing from Cornell, SMU, Sam Houston State, Texas State, Fordham and Navy.
