Cornell head coach Steve Donahue is in his 10th season at Cornell (123-135, .477) ... Donahue became the fourth Robert E. Gallagher ‘44 Coach of Men’s Basketball at Cornell on Sept. 6, 2000.

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Big Red men’s basketball team will finally return home when it meets Saint Joseph’s on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Newman Arena in Bartels Hall. Barry Leonard and Matt Grassie will provide the call on 93.5 WVBR-FM, while live video of the game can be seen on the internet as part of the RedCast subscription service.

Cornell brings a four-game win streak into the contest and will enjoy sleeping in their own beds prior to meeting the Hawks. The Big Red have played seven of their first eight games away from home, and are coming off a string of four games in six days, all Big Red victories.

The All-Ivy trio of Louis Dale, Jeff Foote and Ryan Wittman have lived up to their billing so far this season, particularly showing up big in the most recent win at Bucknell. Dale is averaging 10.9 points, 4.8 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game, while Foote is at 14.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. Wittman, the second all-time leading scorer at Cornell, paces the squad with his 18.1 points. Additionally, Chris Wroblewski, last season’s Ivy League Rookie of the Year, is putting up 10.1 points per game as the fourth double-figure scorer. Seniors Mark Coury, Jon Jaques, Alex Tyler and Geoff Reeves, juniors Max Groebe and Adam Wire and freshman Errick Peck round out the rotation.

The Hawks, under the direction of head coach Phil Martelli, are 3-3 after its most recent game, an 81-73 loss at Rider on Nov. 30 to extend its losing streak to three games (Purdue and DePaul are the other losses. Five players are averaging between 9.5 and 12.5 points in the balanced SJU offense.

ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH’S
• Conference: Atlantic 10
• Head Coach: Phil Martelli (Widener ‘76), 15th season.
• The Hawks have suffered three straight losses after three wins to open the season.
• Senior guard Darrin Govens surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career in the team’s last contest, an 81-73 loss at Rider.
• Govens leads the team with 12.5 ppg.
• SJU has been outrebounded in all but one of its six games and has a -8.2 rebounding margin for the year.
• The Hawks won last year’s meeting 71-67 at the Palestra behind 26 points and 16 rebounds from Ahmad Nivins.

CORNELL VS. THE ATLANTIC 10
• Cornell is 15-18 all-time against current members of the Atlantic 10.
• The Big Red 0-3 against Saint Joseph’s, but has played Dayton (0-1), Duquesne (0-2), Fordham (4-4), La Salle (2-2), Massachusetts (1-0), Richmond (0-1), St. Bonaventure (8-3), Saint Joseph’s (0-3), Saint Louis (0-1) and Xavier (Ohio) (0-1).
• The Big Red has never played Charlotte, George Washington, Rhode Island or Temple.
• This is the second of three scheduled meetings this season against teams from the A-10. Cornell knocked off Massachusetts on the road 74-61 on Nov. 18 and will visit La Salle on Dec. 29.

THE SERIES
• Saint Joseph’s has won all three previous meetings between the teams.
• The squads met last season at the Palestra in Philadelphia on Dec. 22, 2008, with the Hawks earning a 71-67 victory. Ryan Wittman 916), Louis Dale (15) and Geoff Reeves (13) all hit for double figures, but graduated Ahmad Nivins, an eventual NBA draft pick, was the difference with 26 points and 16 rebounds.
• The two teams first met during the 1980-81 season in Ithaca, with the Hawks claiming a 42-39 triumph. They met up again in Philadelphia a year later, with Saint Joseph’s earning a 72-49 victory.

THE STORY LINE
• After winning four straight games away from home over six days, the Cornell men’s basketball team will return home to face Saint Joseph’s.
• Cornell will be playing at home for the first time since having its program-best 21-game home win streak was snapped in a loss to Seton Hall on Nov. 20.
• The Big Red will be attempting to head into final exam break with a win for the first time since 2005.
• With a win, Cornell would have its best mark after nine games (7-2) since the 1967-68 team opened with an 8-1 record.

REVIEWING THE BUCKNELL GAME
• Cornell dominated in overtime and hit 14-of-15 from the free-throw line in the extra session to top Bucknell on the road, 104-98.
• It was the Big Red’s first game with 100 points since 1993 when it defeated Harvard 108-87.
• Cornell shot a season-best .565 from the floor.
• Senior Jeff Foote had a monster game with career highs of 28 points and 18 rebounds. He also blocked three shots and made 10-of-12 shots from the free-throw line.
• Senior Ryan Wittman scored a season-best 25 points, while Erric Peck (13), Louis Dale (12) and Chris Wroblewski (10) rounded out the double figure scorers.
• The Big Red overcame being on the road, playing for its fourth time in six days, surrendering a 12-point second half lead and watching Bison senior Darryl Shazier nailing a 30-foot trey at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime.

PLAYER NOTES
• The top four players in the backcourt, seniors Louis Dale, Geoff Reeves, Ryan Wittman and sophomore Chris Wroblewski have made 64-72 free throws this season (.889), including 23-of-25 in the final three minutes of games within 10 points (.920).
• Senior Ryan Wittman had a career-low four points at UMass, but has averaged 19.7 points in the six games since.
• Sophomore Chris Wroblewski is 13-of-29 from 3-point range in his last six games (45 percent) after hitting just 1-of-5 (20 percent) in his first two.
• Junior Adam Wire has 16 of his 36 rebounds on the offensive glass, while 28 of Jeff Foote’s 75 rebounds have also come on the offensive end.
• In Cornell’s six wins this season, Mark Coury has made 13-of-16 shots from the floor (.813), while Geoff Reeves has hit 18-of-30 shots (.600).
• During Cornell’s four-game win streak, senior Louis Dale has 21 assists and just seven turnovers. He has 11 assists and two turnovers in the last two games.
• Senior Jeff Foote has three double-doubles in his last five games.
• Foote, a career 62 percent free-throw shooter, has made 21-of-27 from the line in the last three games (.778).
• His 18 rebounds against the Bison were the most by a Cornell player in a game since John McCord had 20 against Penn in 1997.
• Senior Ryan Wittman has scored 20 or more points four times this season and 28 times in his career.
• Freshman Errick Peck is averaging a team-high 21.1 points per 40 minutes.

TEAM NOTES
• Cornell has scored at least 70 points in six of eoght contests.
• Cornell has a positive assist:turnover ratio in seven of its eight games this season.
• The team has hit 18 more 3-pointers this season than its opponents and has 26 more assists.
• Its .769 free-throw percentage, if maintained, would surpass the school record of .761 set in 2007-08.
• The Big Red has double figure offensive rebounds in each of its last seven games.
• After taking at least 18 3-pointers in each of its first five games (3-2), the Big Red has taken 17 or less in each of the last three (3-0).
• Cornell snapped a string of six straight games shooting 47 percent from the field or below in a big way, exploding to shoot .565 in the overtime win at Bucknell.
• The Big Red does a great job taking care of the ball regardless of the defense. It averages just 13.1 turnovers per game, and onlty one opponent has more than seven steals against Cornell this year. In the last four games, Big Red opponents have averaged just 3.5 steals per game.

• Cornell will have a two week break before returning to action in the ECAC Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden. The Big Red will face Davidson on Sunday, Dec. 20 at noon at Madison Square Garden, then will meet either St. John’s or Hofstra in the finale.
