At least one former Quaker confirmed his reason for leaving Penn was a desire not to play for head coach, Glen Miller. Gaines told the Daily Pennsylvanian, "I felt like Glen Miller wasn't the coach for me... That was basically what it came down to.I loved playing for Penn … but Glen Miller, I just didn't feel like he was the coach for me. That kind of started it."
It is also speculated that Cofield also left West Philadelphia due to Miller. While Cofield originally announced to the Daily Pennsylvanian that he wanted to transfer to a school closer to home, sources have reported that the junior will likely transfer to Duquesne located in Pittsburgh, hardly closer to Cofield's Boston home.
