RCS Sports reports that Colorado State is just one of several D-I programs that offered San Antonio Madison H.S. 6'3" guard Cameron Catlett. He is a member of the class of 2009 and scheduled to visit Santa Clara during the upcoming weeks. Cornell was previously mentioned as involved in his recruitment.
Chase Plummer, a 6'6" forward from St. Patrick's H.S. in Elizabeth, N.J. told NJHoops.com that he is hearing from Quinnipiac, Rider, Miami, UMBC, UTEP, Seton Hall as well as "some Ivy League schools." He is a member of the class of 2010.
Also fromthe class of 2010 is 6'9" post player, Trevor Gruis of Ellsworth H.S. in Minnesota. "Schools that are interested in Trevor include Minnesota, Cornell, South Dakota St, and Northwestern," said Ellsworth Head Coach Tyler Morris to GopherIllustrated.com "I heard from Bucknell before the season started but have not heard from them since. I've seen Minnesota State at a couple of our games but have never talked to them. Nobody has offered yet. Minnesota came to our game at Fairmont and also requested some game tapes. They're interested, but to what extent I don't know."
Fianlly, a very interesting Ivy League prospect that we've mentioned before is 6'8" Rod Odom from the Middlesex School in Massachusetts. His father Rod Odom Sr. recently spoke with MusketeerHoops.com. "The schools that have recently come on board [in Rod's recruitment] are Virginia, they haven't offered yet, but in all likelihood they will be making an offer, he has an offer from Boston College who has been showing up to games, most recently we took a trip down to Xavier and they have offered him a scholarship, West Virginia has offered, Seton Hall, Rutgers, even though the Ivy's can't offer the schools that have shown the most interest are Columbia, Harvard, and most recently Princeton," said Odom Sr. He continued, "I know that we plan to go out to Stanford during his spring break in a couple of weeks. Arkansas is another school who has shown a lot of interest and they are probably going to offer soon. Also Georgetown has been recruiting him for a long time and will see him this summer and Paul Hewitt from Georgia Tech was by to see him a few weeks ago."
Odom is an excellent student, and that has the family trying to balance the opportunity of heading to the Ivy League, versus a more traditional basketball power. "For me it is pretty gut wrenching," said Odom Sr. "You have an opportunity where Rod has the grades and the mind where he could be accepted to Harvard, Princeton, and Columbia, so it is a great opportunity. You don't want to trade off one iota of education just for basketball, but at the same time he has great potential there as well. As we go through the process, we are trying to keep it all in perspective and in the end the answer will come to us and we won't have to seek the answer. Hopefully that is going to happen over the next year." He continued, "Originally we thought Rod would be making an early decision in the spring, but since he has Saturday classes at Middlesex, we really didn't get out as much as we thought we would have an opportunity to," said Odom. "I can guarantee you when we narrow this down a few Ivy League schools will be on the list. I don't think a decision will come for a while now, but some of the Ivy League schools will be under consideration."
