Fire Glen Miller on Penn and Cornell

The following is from the blog, Fire Glen Miller:

Ithaca, NY--Glen Miller has got to be excited to potentially be a part of a second Ivy League championship celebration, and his first since 2007. This time, he is being offered the loser role. Miller offered no comment on the upcoming Cornell game, but there's no denying that broadening your experiences is a good thing.

Actually, Miller's got to be incensed that unless his Quakers march into Newman Arena tomorrow night and blemish Cornell's perfect home record, the Big Red will for the second year in a row, win the Ivy League title on their home floor. Knowing Coach's intense, "just win baby" demeanor, he might seriously contemplate throwing a folding chair at the Cornell students if things don't go his way Friday and kids start storming the court. I will be in Miami, and not in Ithaca, so if we happen to find a way to lose tomorrow...$10 to whomever can get a good photo of Glen Miller's reaction when Louis Dale puts on his collectible Ivy Champs '09 cap. I pay in cash or Monopoly money. Right now, the two might be worth the same.

On the plus side, a loss could get Penn onto Sportscenter, because the folks at Bristol will certainly want to capture the moment when the first NCAA tournament berth of the year is locked up. Because the WWL covers anything and everything.

I know I threw in my support for Cornell to run the table to steal a higher tournament seed, but I'm reneging. With the mathematical implications in play this weekend, I want everything to work just right so that (gasp) Princeton wins the Ivy title outright. I may dislike Princeton, but what I dislike more is any Ivy team other than Penn or Princeton who thinks they can get all uppity and think they can realistically get into the tournament. Because the Ivy League has and always should be what they can an oligarchy.

Definitely wish the NY trip weekend didn't fall on Spring Break, because I sure would have gone up to NYC to see the Columbia game. Last year's trip there was fun, even though we didn't get the W. Allegedly, fair weather Penn alum-fans turn out in droves for this game, but alumni attendance seemed to fall off during last season's game at Levien, and Saturday night's game will be lucky to be played in front of a hundred alumni.
