Recruiting News

Several of Cornell's top recruiting targets are still on the board and remain uncommitted. Below a couple of former Ivy League prospects made commitments to non Division I programs this week, while another pair went to the high Division I level.

Rivals.com reports that Chris Wacker, a 6'6" 205 lb. forward from Converse, Texas Judson High School committed to St. Edward's College of Austin (D-II). He drew some recruitment interest from Cornell, Penn, Texas State and Stephen F. Austin.

The Capital Times reports that Derek Braucht, a 6'6" forward from Madison, Wisconsin Edgewood High School committed to Division III Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Ill. Braucht said he chose Lake Forest over D-III programs UW-La Crosse, UW-Platteville and UW-Stevens Point. "Last summer and fall, I was being recruited by Cornell and Columbia in the Ivy League. I was focused on those schools but Lake Forest proved to be a very good option closer to home," said Braucht, who is currently ranked No. 27 among state seniors by Wishoops.net.

The Hoop-La Canada reports that Kelly Olynyk, a 6'10" forward from Kamloops British Columbia, committed to Gonzaga over substantial interest from Cornell and other Ivies.

New England Recruiting Report broke the news that Rhys Murphy, a 6'7" forward from Lee Academy in Maine committed to Oregon State. Murphy was reportedly on the wish list for Cornell, Harvard and most of the other Ivy League schools.
