Cornell's Ryan Wittman was named Co-Ivy League Player of the Week by the Ivy League Office. With respect to Wittman, the Ivy Office notes:
2009-10 AWARDWINNERSCornell senior forward Ryan Wittman's (Eden Prairie, Minn.) line of 23 points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal was a big reason why the Big Red earned its first win over an SEC team in 37 years with a season-opening 71-67 victory at Alabama. His first basket of the game, a three-pointer, gave Cornell a lead it would never relinquish a minute and a half into the game. He then continuously made big shots as Alabama was making a run. His 15-foot jumper from the wing pushed the lead back to five after the Crimson Tide had sliced a 15-point deficit to three with eight minutes left. He also hit four free throws in the final minute to secure the win. In all, Wittman had 14 of his points in the second half.
