Roster Report:: Alex Hill Leaves Cornell

It was a proud moment for Alex Hill (far left) during November 2007 when he formally announced his Division I commitment to Cornell with his Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute teammates Keaton Cole (center, Western Carolina signee) and Tyler Murray (right, Wagner signee).

Alex Hill, a 6'4" sophomore from Toronto, Canada has left the Cornell basketball team in the hope of transferring to another school.

Hill appeared in 12 games as a freshman for Cornell with an average of 3.8 minutes and 2.7 points per game. While Hill played limited minutes, he was quite effective while on the floor, averaging 45% beyond the arc and 48% on FGs.

Although it was unlikely Hill would play more minutes this season, we projected that he would contribute as a junior during the 2010-2011 season, albeit in a likely reserve role as the team's 8th or 9th man.

In terms of transfer destinations, reportedly Hill is considering several colleges in Canada and a decision could be announced within the next week.

Despite the loss, Cornell has the best attrition rate in Ivy League basketball. Hill is the first Big Red player to leave the Cornell basketball program since 2007. Prior to 2007, Cornell had not lost a player since 2005.

The Cornell Basketball Blog wishes Alex the best of luck in his future endeavors.
