GatorSports.com writes, "So the SEC is supposed to be better in hoops this year, huh? Nice start. Mississippi State loses to Rider and Alabama loses to Cornell. Uh, that’s the wrong way to boost your conference RPI. Face it, teams are not going to be able to rely on strength of schedule again this year because it’s what you do in the pre-conference schedule that matters. Once you get into conference play, it’s not going to change."
BigFivePost.com writes in its preview of Penn, "Penn should not fall off a cliff in the Ivy. They were still picked to finish third in the league, which is about right. Cornell beat Alabama on Saturday, so the Big Red look like a lock to win the Ivy for a third straight year. We do think the Quakers have a chance to end their nine-game losing streak against the Big 5, perhaps on Jan. 25 against Saint Joe’s at the P."
From RushTheCourt.net, "Penn, bouncing back from two straight disappointing seasons, is expected to return seniors Darren Smith and Andreas Schreiber to team with junior Tyler Bernardini and compete with Cornell and Princeton for the Ivy title this season."
And a preview of Cornell from UMass head coach, Derek Kellogg:
