Several Ivy League prospects have been in action at the Best Buy Summer Classic AAU tournament in Minneapolis this week. Among those in attendance is Dwight Powell, a 6'10" power forward playing with Team Grassroots Canada. Along with Rod Odom (6'8", Middlesex, MA), Powell is one of Harvard's top two recruiting targets. But before Crimson fans get excited about Powell, they should know that coaches from Stanford, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M were watching Powell closely at the Best Buy and all three schools are expecting to offer scholarships.
CaliforniaPreps.com reports that Cornell, Brown, Columbia, Yale, Cal Riverside, UC Irvine, Bucknell, Davidson, Air Force, Army, Holy Cross, Portland State, Oregon State, Miami of Ohio and University of San Francisco are all showing interest in 6'6" Michael Atwater. He recently transferred back home to Foothill HS in Tustin, CA from IMG Academy in Brandeton, FL.
From the Class of 2009, Josh Claytor, a 6'7" forward from Talawanda High School in Oxford, Ohio, who had hoped to attend Cornell, ultimately committed to Division III College of Wooster.
