According to Cornell Athletics, the last time Cornell beat Syracuse, the No. 1 song in the country playing on the airwaves was "Love Child" by Diana Ross and the Supremes. (Hat tip to Cornell Basketball SID Jeremy Hartigan and his staff for that little factoid). The last Big Red victory was a 93-81 decision in Ithaca during the 1968-69 season. Yeah, its been a while since Cornell has knocked off the Orange.
Heading into 2009-2010, many Cornell fans have talked about this being the year that Syracuse finally goes down to the Big Red and the infamous 31-game losing streak comes to an end. The talk got even louder in recent days when Syracuse fell in an exhibition game to Division II Le Moyne. But since that embarrassment, Syracuse has played liked a team ranked No. 25 in the country. On November 9, Syracuse dispatched Albany 75-43 and then on Wednesday night , SU thumped Robert Morris 100-60. Clearly this Orange team will be no pushover. The rematch is November 24. See you there.
