Recruiting News

Below, some recruiting news around the Ivy League.

NJHoops.com is reporting that 6'1" guard, Hakeem Harris has reopened his recruiting after committing to Columbia earlier this month. He attends Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey. The article notes that Columbia appears to be no longer under consideration.

Numerous sources are reporting that Melsahn Basabe, a 6'7" power forward from Glen Cove, Long Island who attends The St. Mark's School in Southborough, Massachusetts committed to Siena. Basabe received scholarship offers from St. John's, Seton Hall, VCU, Drexel, George Mason, Western Kentucky, and Fairfield. Penn and Harvard were also involved and are believed to have extended offers.

MinnesotaPreps.com reports that Vinard Birch, a 5'10" guard from Eastview High School in Eagan, Minnesota has committed to SW Minnesota State. Columbia and Bucknell were among those that showed some interest.

An article in the Kaneland Chronicle confirms that Kaneland's Dave Dudzinski, a 6'8" forward committed to Holy Cross over an Ivy League school because Ivies do not offer scholarships. Cornell, Brown, Columbia, Austin Peay, Loyola (IL), Wisconsin Green Bay, and Lafayette were all involved.
