Above, Cornell's Louis Dale appeared on the cover of the 2009 Sports Illustrated NCAA Tournament Preview.
- First, just another reminder that we have posted The Cornell Basketball Blog's Big Red at Alabama (11.14.09) Game Preview Center.
- As of today, it appears that the University of Alabama Athletics Department will stream online video/audio free of charge. Once the game starts, listeners have the option of tuning into Cornell's Redcast for the audio play-by-play while turning down the volume on Alabama's TideTV's video feed. Tip off for Saturday is at 1 pm local time.
- This year WVBR and Leonard will have a full 1-hour pre-game show before each game, as opposed to just the 15 minute preview shows in years past. The pregame show starts one hour before tip-off with WVBR's student broadcasters. Listeners can access the pre-game audio feed from WVBR.com. Roughly 30 minutes before the tip-off, the show transitions to Leonard where listeners can tune in from either WVBR or Redcast. We highly recommend that listeners catch Barry Leonard's pre-game show and scouting report with one of Cornell's assistant coaches. Following the game, Leonard will host a 15 minute post game show. Once Redcast drops off the air, WVBR's student broadcasters will add additional analysis on WVBR.
- The Alabama game was scheduled as a return home for Cornell senior, Louis Dale (Altamont School/Birmingham, AL). An interview of Dale by Barry Leonard is expected to air on Redcast before tip-off.
- The Crimson Tide are led by former Alabama Mr. Basketball and McDonald's All-American, sophomore, Jamychal Green, a 6'8" forward. The Crimson Tide's new head coach is Anthony Grant, formerly the head coach of Virginia Commonwealth. Cornell head basketball coach, Steve Donahue, Grant and Green, are not exactly strangers. Donahue was one of four coaches that served as "court coaches" for the 2008 USA Men's U18 National Team Trials from July 1-3, 2008 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. Grant was an assistant coach on the team while Green played for the team.
- As for the weekend travel plans, Cornell leaves campus by bus just before 10 a.m. on Friday morning. The team will connect with a flight to Alabama out of Syracuse International that morning.
- Cornell should expect a big crowd for this game. Alabama played in front of 9,000 fans for an exhibition game last night.
- Let us know your thoughts on the upcoming game by joining the discussion and posting a message on The Cornell Basketball Blog's Community Forum and Message Board (click here, free membership).
